About The Master Lab
The Master Lab exists to make Universal Design and accessibility knowledge clear, practical, and usable -- whether you are preparing for the IAAP CPACC certification or simply want to design products, services, and learning experiences that work for more people.
Mission
Teach the seven principles of Universal Design, Universal Design for Learning, and core accessibility concepts with enough depth to support serious study, and with enough variety of format to keep attention and support different learning preferences.
How the site is built
The site is intentionally simple and production-ready for standard shared hosting. It uses:
- Semantic HTML5 for structure and landmarks
- Vanilla CSS with a light/dark theme system and strong contrast targets
- Minimal vanilla JavaScript for theme preference, mobile navigation, and focus support
- Skip link, visible focus styles, keyboard operability, and reduced-motion respect
These choices are themselves applications of Universal Design: the same pages should work for keyboard users, screen reader users, people who need high contrast, and people who prefer light or dark interfaces.
